Everyone Squats, But Nobody Squats the Same: Inside Our Unique Movement Cycle

Ever walked into one of those massive "big box" gym classes? You know the ones. There are 30 people in a room, the music is so loud you can’t hear your own thoughts, and the instructor is up on a stage shouting "Five more reps!" like their life depends on it.

The problem? They don’t know your name, they don't know that your left knee clicks every time you sit down, and they definitely don’t know that you haven't done a squat since 1998. It’s a "one size fits all" approach, but let’s be honest, when has one size ever actually fit everyone? 👗

In the first part of this series, I talked about why small groups of six are the magic number for results. But today, I want to pull back the curtain on the "how." I want to show you the system I’ve spent 20 years perfecting. It’s what we call our Movement Cycle, and it’s the reason why our members get amazing results without ending up on the physio’s table.

If you’re looking for personal training Bournemouth, you need to understand that how you move is way more important than how much you move. Let’s dive in.

The Secret Sauce: Synchronized Energy

Have you ever noticed how much easier it is to keep going when the person next to you is working hard too? That’s the "team" feel, and it’s powerful stuff.

In our sessions, we use a unique cycle system where everyone in the group trains the same movement pattern at the same time. So, if it’s "Lower Body Day," we might all be squatting. When the timer starts or the coach gives the nod, everyone moves together.

Why do we do this? Because it creates an incredible vibe. You aren't just one person off in a corner doing your own thing while someone else does bicep curls. You’re part of a unit. There’s a shared rhythm and a shared energy that makes the hard work feel a little bit lighter.

But, and this is the big "but", while everyone is moving at the same time, nobody is doing exactly the same thing.

Meet Your Body Where It’s At (The Personalization Bit)

This is where the magic happens. Even though the "pattern" is a squat, the exercise is tailored specifically to you.

Imagine this: On one side of the rack, we’ve got Sarah. Sarah is relatively new to the gym and has been struggling with a "niggling" lower back. For her, a heavy barbell on her shoulders is a recipe for disaster right now. So, her version of the squat is a Bench Squat with a mini-band around her knees.

Why the band? It helps her "feel" her glutes and keeps her knees from caving in. The bench gives her a safe target so she doesn't go too deep and irritate her back. She’s getting stronger, she’s burning calories, and she’s actually fixing her back pain while she works.

On the other side of the rack, we’ve got Dave. Dave has been training with us for two years. His mobility is great, and his joints feel like they’re made of steel. He’s doing a Barbell Back Squat with some serious weight.

Here’s the cool part: Sarah and Dave are training together. They are part of the same "Movement Cycle." They finish their sets at the same time, they high-five, and they share the energy of the room. But Sarah isn't being forced to do Dave’s workout, and Dave isn't being held back by Sarah’s starting point.

Does that sound better than being just another face in a crowd of 40? Right?!

Why This Fixes Your Niggles

Most people think that if they have a bad knee or a sore shoulder, they should avoid the gym. Honestly, that’s usually the worst thing you can do! (Unless you’ve literally just sprained your ACL, in which case, please see a doctor first!)

The reason your back or knees hurt is often because certain muscles have gone to sleep and others are doing too much work. Our Movement Cycle is designed to "wake up" the right parts of your body.

Because we only have six people in a session, your coach (who is a highly qualified PT, not just a class instructor) can see exactly what’s happening. If we see your hip shifting or your shoulder rounding, we jump in and tweak the movement.

We use this system for everything:

  • Hinging: One person does a kettlebell deadlift; another does a heavy trap bar pull.

  • Pushing: One person does a floor press to save their shoulders; another does a standard bench press.

  • Pulling: One person does a supported row; another does pull-ups.

It’s about why easing back into training is the smartest move you can make. We meet you where your body is today, not where you wish it was or where it used to be ten years ago.

The "Private Gym" Advantage

We aren't a public gym. We are a private gym Bournemouth. That means no one is dropping weights to show off, no one is taking selfies in the mirror for an hour, and no one is judging you.

When you combine that environment with our Movement Cycle system, something awesome happens. You stop worrying about what everyone else is doing. You know that your plan is your plan.

You get the best of both worlds:

  1. The Vibe: The motivation of a group and the "we’re all in this together" feel.

  2. The Precision: The tailored programming and expert coaching of a 1-on-1 session.

It’s like the Goldilocks of fitness: not too lonely, not too crowded. Just right. 👌

Is This Right For You?

If you’ve ever felt intimidated by the gym or felt like you’re "not fit enough" to start, this system was basically built for you.

Maybe you’re worried about back pain. Maybe you’re just bored of doing the same three machines every time you go to the local leisure centre. Or maybe you just want to know that when you lift something, you’re doing it right.

Our Movement Cycle ensures that you’re always progressing. As Sarah gets stronger and her back feels better, we’ll move her from the bench squat to a goblet squat, and eventually, she might be right there next to Dave with a barbell. But we only move when you are ready.

Let’s Get Moving

Training shouldn't be a chore, and it definitely shouldn't be a mystery. You should leave the gym feeling better than when you walked in: not broken, not discouraged, and certainly not ignored.

Whether you want to lose a bit of weight, get stronger, or just be able to pick up your kids without your knees screaming at you, our unique group system is the fastest (and safest) way to get there.

Ready to see how the Movement Cycle works in person? We’d love to show you around our private gym Bournemouth.

Next week in part 3: I’m going to talk about the "Power of 6" and why training with a small pack is the psychological secret weapon you’ve been missing. See you then! 💪🔥
